Vocational,Self Help and Advocacy Services

The following Vocational programs often have significant waiting lists and they are coordinated through the County.

For Self Help and Advocacy services, interested parties are invited to contact the programs directly. Descriptions of specific programs are listed below, where available.

Vocational Support & Training: Vocational services offer a variety of support services including: evaluations, socialization workshops, job seeking skills workshops, benefits counseling, on the job training programs, and community job development. Provides assistance in finding employment for mental health consumers interested in returning the work force. Provides support services as needed to enable clients to develop skills and obtain employment in San Francisco. Support services are also available to assist consumers in their transition from client to employee.

Bayview Clubhouse

• This treatment program is located in the Tenderloin district and provides a range of mental health treatment and socialization activities. The Bayview clubhouse is a day treatment program that provides rehabilitation services based on the Fountain House model. The goal of the Clubhouse is to enable the members to work and become socially interactive and supportive of each other. The socialization program enhances social skills, reduces isolation and provides a variety of social and recreational activities.

Self/Mutual Help and Advocacy Services: Uses a variety of peer support techniques, self-help staff will work with consumers to help them address their issues of concern. These peer support techniques include, but are not limited to, education, peer counseling, peer case management, alternatives to medical treatment, drop-in centers, and social activities including outings. The San Francisco Mental Health Clients' Rights Advocates provide advocacy services to respond, educate and monitor potential and actual violations of clients' rights.
