Day Services: A non-residential treatment program that may or may not be hospital based. The program services include: assessment, mental health services, medical oversight and medication support on a level of intensity equal to an inpatient program but only on a daytime basis. Partial hospitalization is appropriate for clients who do not require the more restrictive and intensive environment of a 24-house inpatient setting. It is used as a time-limited response to stabilize acute symptoms. It is separate and distinct from social rehabilitation or day treatment programs, which focuses on individual coping skills necessary for daily functioning.
