The following programs often have significant waiting lists. Admissions are coordinated through a County committee, known as the Bed Committee. Contact the Bed Committee at 255-3769 for information. Descriptions of specific programs are listed below, where available.
Crisis Residential: Short-term unlocked social model crisis residential programs designed as an alternative to hospitalization for individuals experiencing an acute episode or crisis OR as a step-down from the acute inpatient treatment. Services include assessment, general mental health services, medication prescription and administration, 24-hour monitoring and case management.

It provides a short-term program of up to two weeks for voluntary adult patients who require a highly structured and supervised setting due to an emotional crisis of the acute symptoms of mental illness. Services include individual and group counseling and medication support.

Intensive Residential Treatment: A community alternative to hospitalization and/or step-down transition from long-term care. This is a social rehab model program emphasizing interpersonal communication, social skills development, medication monitoring and support and limited 24-hour monitoring.

• Provides a 60-day intensive residential dual diagnosis treatment facility. Accepts referrals from inpatient, acute diversion units, detox and 28-day recovery program. Goals are to reduce use of emergency and inpatient treatment and stabilize clients for transition to less intensive treatment programs.

• Provides day rehabilitation services associated with three-month residential treatment program and for adults with major mental health disorders and substance abuse problems. Goals of program are to develop clients' independent living skills and the supports they need to sustain their functioning in the community and reduce their use of emergency and inpatient treatment. Provides specialized services for jail psychiatric clients.
Transitional Residential Treatment: Residential Treatment most appropriate for individuals who are no longer in crisis but continue to require stabilization in a safe and supportive 24-hour therapeutic setting. Assists individuals in gaining and maintaining self-care skills; also provides general mental health services and limited 24-hour monitoring.

Residential Care Facilities: A residential facility which provides clients with medication supervision, assistance with ADLs and structuring for daily activities. Some homes require that clients be involved in day treatment/socialization or some other day structure. Many are clients coming from the IMDs or acute inpatient.

Supportive Housing: Includes co-ops, consisting of housing such as flats or apartments shared by several clients with some case management, and hotels, where clients have their own rooms and have money management and some case management provided. Clients maintain responsibility for their own medications and follow mutual group living agreements.

Provides specialized services for African Americans.
Peter Claver Community AIDS/ARC Program

• Provides supportive, consistent living situation for persons with AIDS-related mild dementia. Assists clients obtain medical care, money management services, other case management services, and activities program.
Progress Supported Living Program (Co-ops)

• Program provides assistance with setting up groups of graduates from Progress Foundation residential treatment programs to form "households" of people who will live together. Provides counseling services to maintain the stability of these households.
Homeless Shelter Based Services: CMHS funds on-site mental health case management staffing for the shelter residents. Case management staff includes weekday as well as evening coverage

• The program is a 251-bed clean-and-sober transitional homeless shelter for male and female adults. Community Mental Health Services funds on-site mental health case management staffing for the shelter residents. Case management services are offered to all clients who are placed in a 30-day bed.
North of Market Multi-Service Centers: Mental Health & Substance Abuse Case Managers

• This program is a transitional shelter for homeless male and female adults. Community Mental Health Services funds on-site mental health case management staffing for the shelter residents. Case management services are offered to all residents.
South of Market Multi-Service Center: Mental Health Case Managers

• This program is a 345-bed homeless shelter for adult males that includes a drop-in center. Community Mental Health Services funds on-site mental health case management staffing that is available weekdays, evenings, and weekends to all shelter residents.
